Coffee is a very delicate beverage with both extreme sides of the prism tasting very awful: sour, waterly, and burnt.
Brewing and or extracting coffee is more or less a ritual and it must be observed with great care.
Therefore let us start with the basics and have them right.
Take, for instance, one should first consider the brewing style or technique before making one’s ground coffee: whether it should be a course or fine or something in between. For instance, if you are using an espresso machine, you need to use a fine grind setting, for a French press you need a coarse and even grind and for a Moka pot you will need a fine to medium-fine grind.
Furthermore, ensure to use clean water (free of impurities). Dirty or contaminated water shall negatively affect the taste and flavor palates of your coffee cup.
Remember to have your coffee properly stored in an airtight, opaque container, shelved away from light and heat.
Last but not least, you must ensure to follow the best practices for any brewing method you choose to use at any given time to strike the right kind of perfect taste for every serving. It should be done religiously.
